COURSE OVERVIEW

The skin being the largest organ of the body is often exposed to various bacterial and fungal infections after the healthy skin barrier is broken. Through this third module in series of “Skin Infections” we intend to describe the various antimicrobials- topical or systemic-commonly used in dermatology practice. The various combinations drugs used with their pharmacological profiles and their adverse events so the clinician can make the optimum use of the drug.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

On completion of this activity, participants will be able:
• To gain in-depth knowledge about the antifungal agents used in various skin diseases with respect to their mode of action and clinical efficacy
• To know the facts about the antibacterial agents used in skin diseases
• To summarize the various antifungal and antibacterial agents as in combination with steroid preparations along with their relevant clinical data
